This seems to be one of the biggest challenges for the service providers in today's time. Almost every Operator Tier service provider is looking to extend its service beyond just video and wants to power it up with gaming. This will not only increase LTV of its consumers, have better ARPUs but also will add a whole new segment of customers which it has been missing till now.

Gaming on Big screen certainly has many opportunities for the Service providers, but the hardware specs of the STBs especially in Asia are pretty much on the lower side in terms of RAM, storage space and computing power, which isthe biggest barrier to launching somthing like gaming on the same boxes.

Cloud Gaming can certainly overcome some of those challenges, but it comes at a huge price which certainly does not fit into the business model of the aggregators in price-sensitive markets like Asia. Also, the type of gaming content catalogue that cloud gaming has to offer does not match with the TG of these service providers, as the TG is not necessarily of gaming users.
